German Annotation Assignment: Verbs Wissen and Kennen

By Erika Strube of Rowan College

Description #

This is an annotation assignment in a German class about a grammar topic. The idea is for students to be able to collaborate on the grammar concept (social learning) and at the same time do some practice assignments by annotating fill-in-the-blank sentences (highlight the blank and annotate the correct verb form of the correct verb) and explaining why they chose that verb and form. Classmates can comment. This also helps the instructor understand where students are struggling. Therefore, it makes a great learning tool as well as a formative assessment at the same time. I highly recommend adding more practice sentences for more variety and learning opportunities. This concept can be applied to any grammar topic in any language.
