How do I report abuse?

Hypothesis moderates annotations flagged by users in our Public layer, ensuring that they meet our community guidelines and terms of service. Annotations flagged in groups are moderated by the group creator.

Should you come across an annotation that you believe violates our community guidelines or terms of service, you can click the Flag icon at the bottom right of the annotation card to queue it for moderation:

Alternatively, you can report suspected abuse via our support form or email support@hypothes.is with “Abuse” in the subject line. Please include a link to the annotation and relevant details (URLs, usernames, and/or screenshots) in your report and we’ll take action as soon as possible.

If we determine that a flagged annotation is inappropriate or abusive, we will hide it from the Public layer.
