Enabling the Canvas Folders Integration in the Hypothesis LMS app

• Canvas schools with existing Hypothesis installations
• People with administrator-level access to their institution’s Canvas instance

How does the Canvas Folders integration work in the Hypothesis LMS app

The Canvas Folders integration lets instructors view their course’s folder structure when selecting a Canvas PDF in the Hypothesis LMS app. If Canvas Folders is not enabled, instructors will see a combined list of all PDFs in the course even if they are in separate folders. See the images below to see the difference between having Canvas Folders integration turned on and off.

How to Enable the Canvas Folders integration

For Scoped Canvas API Key

1. If you have a scoped Canvas API key associated with Hypothesis please update those scopes to include the following:
   • url:GET|/api/v1/courses/:course_id/folders  (2nd endpoint from top)

2. Open a ticket with the Hypothesis Support team. Include in the ticket that you would like to enable the Canvas Folders integration and you have added the necessary scopes.
3. Wait for a response confirming the the Canvas Folders integration has been enabled.
