Hypothesis Social Annotation Now With Blackboard Groups
Dividing students in large classes into groups can make discussion and other collaborative activities more manageable and effective for learners. Even smaller classes often break into groups for collaborative activities like social annotation. For example, students working on group projects can collaborate without involving the full class, and one-on-one “groups” with instructors enable students to benefit from more personal mentorship in reading and writing.
Starting today, educators using Hypothesis with Blackboard Learn can enjoy this benefit, using our seamless integration with Learn’s built-in Groups feature.
The Blackboard Learn Groups capability enables instructors to divide students in their courses into segments of any size using the full power of Learn’s own configurable Groups. When creating a Hypothesis reading in Blackboard Learn using the Groups option, instructors will be able to assign the reading to any group set that contains one or more Learn groups. When students annotate readings within their groups, only instructors and other class members can view and respond to their annotations.
The new feature is available now upon request. If you’d like to activate Blackboard Learn Groups for Hypothesis, please connect with us and we will guide you through the steps to add Learn Groups to courses at your institution. Note: Activating the feature may involve a manual step from a Learn administrator at your school.
