Hypothesis invites everyone interested in annotation in education to join us and the rest of the AnnotatED community at two related events:

OERizona: A free, day-long workshop on Tuesday, 29 October 2019, where participants joining face-to-face and virtually will engage in hands-on activities with open educational resources (OER) and open educational practices/pedagogies (OEP).

OpenEd19: The sixteenth annual conference for open education held 30 October–1 November 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

OERizona: Open Practices, Open People

The #OERizona hashtag in yellow on the blue of the Arizona state flag. Are you already using open educational resources and practices in your classroom, or who would like to but don’t know where to get started? Come meet like-minded colleagues while learning more about how to facilitate open education at your institution. The open education community in Arizona has come together to create an opportunity for teachers, administrators, librarians and others to learn more about open educational resources (OER) and open educational practices and pedagogies (OEP).

Join us on Tuesday, 29 Oct 2019, at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona, for OERizona, a free day-long workshop the day before the 2019 Open Education Conference (30 Oct–1 Nov) where participants can engage in hands-on activities with open education. From 9:30am–4:00pm, practitioners from around Arizona, the USA, and beyond can come together to make meaningful change in their open education community. Those unable to travel to Glendale, Arizona, can attend as virtual participants, also for free.

OERizona welcomes #OpenEd19 attendees and others with any level of open education experience — from curious newcomers to practiced champions. Educators, librarians, instructional designers, educational technologists and people in other roles supporting teaching and learning are encouraged to attend this day of active exploration and collaboration.

Built around inspiring talks by active OER and OEP practitioners, the day’s activities will include annotating, remixing and extending resources, and more.

Participants will connect with peers working on open education projects at other institutions and leave with new skills and ideas on how to extend their open education practices.

This event is free to attend and sponsored by Arizona State UniversityCCCOER, Glendale Community College, Hypothesis, Maricopa Millions, Pressbooks, and the University of Arizona.

Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided. A no-host social gathering will follow the event.
