In December 2018, we released the Hypothesis LMS app, a tool that enables you to integrate collaborative web annotation for course readings in any LMS with single sign-on and automatic private annotation groups for each class. In August, we announced the Hypothesis app’s first LMS gradebook integration for Instructure Canvas. We are now pleased to announce gradebook integration for any LMS that supports IMS Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), including not only Canvas, but also Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, Moodle, Sakai, and Schoology.

In the spring of 2020, we enabled our LMS app to allow teachers to assess student annotations directly in the Hypothesis tool, integrated with their LMS gradebook — making is possible to view and grade a single student’s annotations in place on top of a reading assignment or in the context of annotations by other students. These capabilities make it even easier for teachers to use annotation to connect student reading to learning.

Watch the recording and download the slides from our 4 December 2019 webinar, where Hypothesis Director of Education Dr. Jeremy Dean demonstrated how to use collaborative annotation in your class to make student reading active, visible, and social, how these new gradebook integration capabilities work in various LMSs, and everything you need to know to start using collaborative annotation in your blended or online classes by installing our app in your LMS and kicking off a supported Hypothesis pilot at your school. We also had plenty of time during the webinar to answer questions from attendees about various technical and pedagogical topics.

Please feel free to share the webinar recording and slides with colleagues.
